The American nongovernmental organization Paso Pacifico, with the support of the Municipality of San Juan del Sur, Reef Foundation, San Juan del Sur CANTUR carry out the day's "Underwater Clean the Bay of San Juan del Sur. To this end SAN JUAN DEL SUR CANTUR in conjunction with Paso Pacifico has been given the task of promoting among the residents of this tourist city, international organizations, government agencies, students and the general public to participate in this conference to be held Saturday May 9, 2009 from 08:00 AM, being the meeting point in front of the Restaurant El Timon in San Juan del Sur.
The objective of the activity is the removal of inorganic waste, mainly abandoned nets and traps at the bottom of the bay, as well as cleaning the coast of the bay and estuary banks of the Rio San Juan del Sur. Liza González - Paso Pacifico owner - said they hope to remove from the bottom of the bay 50 tons of inorganic waste, though - he continued - to ensure the overall success of the same - plus human resources - are needed diving equipment, compressors oxygen, pangas, fuel, garbage bags, gloves, snacks, shirts, hats, blankets and other advertising.
